“I was born in Liberia and then moved to a refugee camp on the Ivory Coast due to civil wars. My mother was a physician and used her skills to help other refugees which inspired me to pursue medicine. Coming to Covenant was a doorway for me to receive a quality, Christian education. My professors helped me not only learn science, but also learn how God is behind science. I’ve learned that the best physician is Christ, not me.”

• Alkebulan学生协会: Through this club, African students feel culturally free and comfortable with their heritage while serving others on campus. Students unite to help each other grow spiritually and connect with their backgrounds.
• McRae-Zellner俱乐部: The club is designed to bring African-American students together to share the richness and complexity of African-American culture with the Covenant campus.
• μ卡巴: μ卡巴 creates a sense of home away from home for any cross-cultural students who find themselves with an ambiguous cultural identity split between host culture and home culture (missionary kids, military kids, DODs, and others).
• 西班牙俱乐部: The club connects 西班牙语 speakers from different backgrounds to explore the beauty found in this language. The 西班牙语 club also serves the local 西班牙语-speaking community in whatever way possible when occasions arise.
• 跨文化项目: Through educational resources and opportunities for celebration, the Intercultural Program (IP) fosters a campus-wide appreciation of various cultures. IP creates intentional spaces for students in ethnic and cultural minority groups and also connects our International Student Support Network with students studying here on F-1 visas. One favorite campus-wide event is Culture Fest, a spring celebration led by IP.

Scripture clearly tells us that God’s people come from every human nation, tribe, kingdom, and language (Revelation 5:9), and that all humans are image-bearers (Genesis 1:26-27). Even more, God’s people are commanded to love the sojourners in our midst (Deuteronomy 10:19). Therefore, a Christian liberal arts education must explore the intercultural richness of God’s kingdom as we seek to better understand and love our neighbors. 文化调查 courses will explore one or more of the following: genders, ethnicities, races, religions, social classes, disabilities, or cultures other than those that comprise the primary focus of Narrating the West. Or, a CI course may be one taught by Covenant faculty in an international setting. A CI course offered by a student’s major department may fulfill both the CI and a major requirement. A CI course may not fulfill the CI and another distribution requirement below. A Cultural Inquiry course code (CI) will appear with the course description. Students who successfully complete this requirement will demonstrate the ability to:

• Identify the role of races, genders, ethnicities, religions, social classes, disabilities, or cultures in shaping human knowledge and cultural production.

• Connect course knowledge to broader concerns for, and commitment to, the physical and spiritual worth and welfare of all image bearers.

在印度尼西亚长大……surrounded by economically disadvantaged urban settlements sparked my passion for poverty alleviation, but it was Covenant's classes and faculty mentorship that helped me see how I could impact areas struggling with poverty and how I could do so with a biblical worldview. Majoring in international studies helped me discern the part I can play in God's work in the world.
