For creative and highly motivated students whose interests, dispositions, and personal goals cannot be contained within the boundaries of traditional academic disciplines, interdisciplinary studies offers opportunities for students to create individualized courses of study. The major should not be viewed as an escape from a single discipline but instead a holistic approach that may provide a better basis for certain careers.

The interdisciplinary studies major provides opportunities to construct customized academic pathways that enable students to integrate materials from several fields of study that will help them tackle a variety of challenges too big and complex for a single disciplinary perspective. Our students pursue studies in multiple disciplines with an eye toward integrating areas of study for more effective, holistic question posing and problem solving.
