She currently works at the Legal Services Center at 的 Door, a nonprofit that serves the youth of New York City and all five boroughs. Weichbrodt serves on the pro bono team, directly representing youth in immigration court and immigration proceedings. Additionally, she supervises pro bono attorneys at different law firms and makes appearances before immigration and state courts.
“We were thrilled to welcome Hannah back to her alma mater for our Constitution Day lecture,” states Dr. H. Collin Messer, Covenant’s vice president of academic affairs. “她奉耶稣的名在世界各地服事。 From human trafficking enforcement in India to corporate and immigration law in New York City, Hannah well represents our hope for all of our alumni, that they would be faithful and excellent in their various callings with a deep commitment to Christ-like service.”
In her lecture, Weichbrodt explained certain rights granted by the Constitution, including writ of habeas corpus, due process, and free speech. She then encouraged students and other audience members to responsibly steward those rights by being informed and holding the government accountable. She also described how students can proactively use the rights and responsibilities granted to Americans by the Constitution. Dr. Messer describes the lecture as clear, thoughtful, and timely.
Weichbrodt explained what she hoped students would take away from the lecture, stating, “I think Covenant students are intelligent and really oriented towards doing good in the world.” Weichbrodt believes that because of the college’s mission, students are well equipped to make an impact with their Covenant education. “Something that has been really beautiful to see from Covenant is the investment in communities that students and alums have,” she continues. “他们可以给世界带来美好的改变。”
